Boreenmanna Beanie
Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. I love the food, I love the gift giving and I love the ambience and general merriment. I really enjoy buying and making gifts for people, but everyone has that one person in their family that is just impossible to buy for. In my case, that person is my sister. I hate getting her make up because she has so much already, I hate getting her clothes because they won't be her style and I hate getting her sweets or food because you eat them and they're gone!
Fortunately, in Ireland at Christmas its rather cold. And that means wearing your knitwear! So this year my sister will be receiving this lovely Boreenmanna Beanie.
You'll need a 100g ball of Tivoli Maxi, I used the lovely cream colour that is shade number 830. I really only used about half the ball. So you can use the rest for a pompom if you'd like.
You'll need a pair of 10mm circular knitting needles. And if you prefer DPNs when you start to decrease your knitting then you'll need a set of them too. You'll also need a needle to weave in ends. And I like to have a soft furry pompom to go on top too.
Abbreviations:
K- Knit
P- Purl
K2TOG- Knit two stitches together
To begin, cast on 40 stitches. Join to work in the round by using your preferred method. Place stitch marker
Rows 1-9: K2 P2 around.
Knit around for one row.
K2tog, K 18 stitches, K2tog, K 18 stitches.
Continue working the hat by knitting around until the beanie measures 8 inches.
K2tog 19 times.
K2tog 9 times, K 1.
K2tog 5 times.
Cut off yarn leaving a long tail. Work long tail through the remaining 5 stitches and pull tight.
Weave in your ends and sew on your pompom!
Seriously though it is hella cute.
Merry Christmas xxx
