Nirvana Cowl
My favourite Nirvana song is "Something in the way" off Nevermind. I named this project the Nirvana Cowl because the colours in this yarn remind me of the lines in the song.
"Underneath the bridge
The tarp has sprung a leak
And the animals I've trapped
Have all become my pets
And I'm living off of grass
And the drippings from the ceiling
But it's okay to eat fish
'Cause they don't have any feelings"
This is my first ever project in the round and I'm delighted with how it turned out.
To begin with you'll need a set of 6mm 16 inch circular needles and approximately 150g of bulky/chunky yarn. I used Rico Design Creative Galaxy Chunky in shade 008, it comes in 100g balls and I used about a ball and a half.
Oh and you'll also need 1 stitch marker.
Begin by casting on 90 stitches using your preferred cast on method, I used a cable cast on. Place your marker and join to form the round.
Knit 2 Purl 2 rib for 4 rows.
Begin honeycomb brioche pattern.
Honeycomb brioche:
Row 1: *K1, K1B (knit one below); repeat from * to end.
Row 2: *P2tog (picking up the top stitch from the K1B and knitting it with the stitch on the main needle), P1; repeat from * to end.
Row 3: *K1B, K1; repeat from * to end.
Row 4: * P1, P2tog (picking up the top stitch from the K1B and knitting it with the stitch on the main needle); repeat from * to end.
Continue in the honeycomb brioche pattern until the cowl measures 18 cm.
End on either row 1 or 3.
K2 P2 rib for 3 rows.
Cast off in K2 P2 rib.
Weave in all your ends and enjoy your squooshy new cowl!!
Mine in 40cms across and 20 cms long.
If you need help with any of the techniques feel free to leave a comment or do a quick YouTube search as there are loads of helpful videos out there.

I made this cowl for my mother as she already has a hat in the same yarn.
I'm super happy with how it turned out and as you can see in the photo below so is she!!
Hope this turns out as well for you as it did for me!
Enjoy! xxx
